When a company or an organization handles a project, there are many employees or team members involved in any kind of project. The number of these team members depends on the type and size of the project but usually these factors affect the number of employees working on the project and not the position of a project manager and project supervisor. Many people make the mistake of assuming the project manager and supervisor have the same job as it’s not true. A project supervisor deals with low profile and day-to-day operations of the project. This includes; performance of the employees, progress of team members, resolving conflicts between the team members and keeping the team members on schedule and on track.

A project supervisor is a very high profile and important part of any project as it is not possible to run an operation or complete a project on time without project supervisor. This is the reason that when a project supervisor wants to resign from his job, he can’t just do it out of the blue but he has to make sure he follows the procedure and takes care of all the factors involved in leaving the job. This includes the timing, progress of the project, overall situation of the organization and many other elements. For example, a project supervisor can’t resign when an important project is ongoing in the company.

Another example is that when a supervisor wants to quit because of financial reasons, he should make this decision at a time when the company can negotiate with him on the salary terms because it is hundred times better to keep the job with higher salary than to move on to a new company. Also when it is crucial to leave a company during ongoing project, the project supervisor has to give at least 2 week notice period so that the management can find another supervisor before the position becomes vacant.

Dear (Recipient’s name),

I am writing this letter to inform you that I am resigning from my position of project supervisor at this company and with 2 week notice period, I will leave on the 28th of this month.

I can understand that leaving this company is as hard on you as it is on me but I have to make some changes in my life and as it turned out, you can’t offer me more money, I have no other choice but to move on a better paying job in another company.

I was thinking of leaving for quite some time but the timing wasn’t right and now that all the ongoing projects are entered in final phase and it won’t affect these projects if I leave, I am sending you my formal resignation letter.

Please accept my resignation letter and if you want me to coordinate with the new project supervisor and guide him about the overall progress of ongoing projects, kindly find a substitute within my notice period.

Yours faithful,
