There is a saying that working as a police officer isn’t something that everyone can do because this is a job that requires nerves of steel and if you are not good with stress and pressure on the job, maybe you should try another career that is more compatible with your nature and habits. Many people think that they can become a very good police officer who deals with crimes on daily basis but most of them don’t even pass the first year and resign from their jobs. Besides having emotions and being too sensitive about the job, there are many other reasons that lead polices officers to resign from their jobs.

The most important and common reason for resignation of a police officer is that he doesn’t have good relationship with his superior officer and the tension between them reached to a point of no return and no repair. At this point, there is nothing that the police officer can do to repair his relation with the senior officers and he has no choice but to leave the force. Another very common factor that forces police officers to resign is the behavior of coworkers and other officers in the group. This is a more common factor than you can imagine and many police officers resign from their jobs just because the abusive behavior and teasing of other officers.

Money is also a very big factor leading police officers to resign from their jobs. As soon your personal matters change i.e. you get married or you become a parent, you realize that if you keep this job, you won’t make enough money to support your family and thus you have to move on to another career or a better job that pays more money and benefits.

Dear (Recipient’s name),

I am writing this letter to you in order to inform you that I have decided to resign from my job in the force and with 2 week notice period, I will leave on the 25th of this month.

I have worked as a police officer for more than 2 years and up until now, the salary and benefits were enough for me but now that I am married and I have a family to support, I can’t think of any possibility of supporting my wife and children on this salary.

This is the one and only reason that led me to resign from my job. It is not like I am happy about this decision but I have to do it for the sake of my family. I joined the force because I like being working as a police officer but now that I am a family man, I have to think of my spouse ahead of everything else.

I hope you will accept my resignation and arrange for my final paycheck before notice period ends.

Yours faithful,
